Fossil & Cross cottage is a beautiful, compact, stone-built cottage bungalow set in the tranquil Wayside Gardens, together with Whispering Pines and Mimosa cottages. Surrounded by unspoiled countryside, with stunning views of the Jurassic Coast towards Lyme Regis, it is an ideal rural retreat and base for exploring West Dorset.

Originally to be named Fossil Cottage, as a fossilised ammonite was deliberately built into the wall, this was rapidly changed to include the 'Cross', when the first guest to stay was a well known clerical bishop! It therefore has a unique and slightly quirky feel to it and can be reached by following a 50 metre and gently sloping path from the parking area. It is therefore not suitable for people with severe mobility problems. All accommodation is set comfortably on one level and there is a sociable open-plan living area with a kitchen, dining space and also a lounge/sitting area. There is a small log-burner for use in cold weather and and electric heaters for use when needed. The bedrooms are located to the rear of the living area, with the windows offering a view of the coast as well as the surrounding trees and garden. There’s a single small bathroom with electric shower and bath.

Separate french windows can be opened onto the patio or garden, both ideal for outside dining or relaxation. The property accepts two well-behaved dogs and there are extensive gardens and grounds for walking, as well as roads and paths in the surrounding area.
